Let alone that I was allergic to the Terminal. But of course, I didn't even know then what a comment (#) in a config file was all about! I feel that I have to mention my first attempts to get help for my Mustek scanner from the Mint support group.Īs you can see, Fragadelic from Canada was extremely kind, patient and persistent in guiding me through the necessary steps that I needed to set up my scanner. This is still true here, unless you start Gimp in the Terminal (sudo gimp). Though fragadelic had patiently given me step by step instructions, the actual problem was the fact that Xsane would not start and I got a What scanner do you have? Most times it is just a matter of manually editting a sane file to get it working especially if it is a parallel port scanner. The Administrator and the moderators seem to be working very hard. ( Some people's comments: ".what made me like Mint so much is its nice community." ) In another case, they don't know how to post correctly, so that they may get help as soon as possible.īut in spite of all the difficulties, they end up having some help in a very short time thanks to a community that is very eager and friendly. They mostly have some problem relating to specific hardware. Some of them are complete newbies to Linux. Lately, about a dosen new people join every 24 hours. Going through the forums, one can see that the number of people that request help is increasing everyday. Credit should be given to whom it is due.
